A Letter from the President

The Brazos Valley Chapter of the ICC (International Code Council) is a non-profit organization. Our Chapter was founded in 2004 and currently has 53 members and 6 industry members representing 14 cities in the greater Houston area. Brazos Valley Chapter was formed to offer a forum for cities to become involved with a group of code officials. We have building officials, building inspectors, plumbing inspectors, electrical and mechanical inspectors, fire marshal’s, public works directors and many more officials, architects and private businesses who work with and support the application of International Codes in our area.

We are involved with and support the efforts of the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT). Also the Houston Building Professional’s Institute for promoting code education in Texas. We share some members with the Texas State Association of Plumbing Inspectors (TSAPI).

Today is June 1, 2009 which is the beginning of Hurricane season. I can’t think of a better reason to join together and concentrate our efforts to promote the application of building codes in the Houston area. As recently demonstrated by Hurricane Ike no one is immune from the effects of major storms in this area. We will be putting on educational classes throughout the year and we have monthly luncheon meeting where open sessions of questions and answers are part of the format. If you are on the inspection or enforcement side of construction, or if you are a builder or remodeling contractor and you want to learn more about the regulations in your industry consider this your personal invitation to join the Brazos Valley Chapter of ICC.
